Hello Hedge Witches!
Apologies for being a little sporadic with my posts of late - I’ve been balancing a few new projects and unfortunately haven’t had the headspace to keep up here. As I am not able to post consistently at the moment, paid subscribers please feel free to switch from being a free subscriber until I can get back into a rhythm. Thank you so much for all your support over the last few years!
Slow Motion Multitasking will remain a place where I share personal work, factual rabbit holes, and work updates, just a bit more intermittently for now.
Today, as we come up on the anniversary of Summer Camp Islands Season 6 release, I thought i’d share some visual development from our final 20 episodes, beginning with:
Episode Two - If I Only Had a Wand
Our design references for this episode were Rugrats, Clarissa Explains it All and 90s summer outfits.
Kent Osborne taught me how to do a New Jersey accent for this episode - the trick is saying ‘Joy-sey.’ I didn’t learn any other tricks and as a result my accent is… err… spot on and really good!
All designs by Thomas Wellmann
Episode 3 - See Bees Gee Bees
Our design references for this episode were the More Than Honey documentary, British gardens and this gorgeous John Singer Sargent painting.
We also spoke to a bee expert who told us that in order to make a beard of bees you just have to put the Queen in the middle.
For Hedgehog’s witch outfit we toyed a lot with what her symbol should be, experimenting with an elephant for our sweet Oscar
and her Key from Hall of Mooms, which is ultimately what we chose.

Episode 4 - Pepper’s Funeral
One of my favourite episodes of the whole show - soft painted clouds, stormy weather and an entire illustrated eulogy by Seong Ryul which you can see it’s in it’s entirety here.

Thank you for continuing to support this substack. Part Two coming soon. <3
All hail our dairy queen; Hedgehog!
