Happy Halloween to all who celebrate! Slow Motion Multitasking was featured on Substack Reads last week which is very exciting!

We wrap our spooky month with a spell. I went to an evening called ‘Strange Science’ at Huntington Gardens last weekend saw Deborah Harkness speak (for all you Discovery of Witches fans, I freaked out on your behalf). She gave a brilliant talk on potions, poisons and elixirs in the Renaissance period. One of my favourite observations was that during that period people thought “there was poison lurking in everything.” Which made me think of this Leonard Cohen song.
